CONDITIONS OF BORROWING

1. The borrower is responsible for the equipment and must ensure all equipment is:

thoroughly checked and functioning properly before it leaves the Equipment Store;

returned to the Store in a neat and orderly condition on time.

protected from damage - particularly exposure to dust, sand, water and extremes of temperature;

operated only by the authorized crew;

stored securely with the person who signed the issue form. (Never leave Store equipment in a vehicle or unattended anywhere, for any amount of time).

It is Faculty policy to charge borrowers the repair or replacement cost for negligent theft, damage or loss of equipment.

“Negligent” loss, theft or damage is defined as any action or omission by a borrower which contravenes instructions in either the above Conditions of Borrowing or UTS Rule 15 – see http://www.gsu.uts.edu.au/rules/15-3.html

“Replacement Cost” means the depreciated purchase price of the item.

2. Items cannot be booked for longer than 72 hours. Pick up and return times must be adhered to; if you do not pick up equipment at the registered time the booking may be cancelled and made available to others.

3. Back to back bookings (consecutive bookings of the same equipment so as to extend beyond 72 hours) are not permitted.

4. Where approval has been given by Equipment Store staff for gear to be handed from one group to another (eg over a weekend), a record stating any problems or difficulties with the gear needs to be signed by both parties and returned to the Store with the equipment.

5. Equipment is not available for private purposes. The equipment is to be used for approved coursework or research work only.

6. Equipment must be operated in accordance with the health and safety guidelines outlined in the Lighting Safety booklet and as instructed in classes and workshops.

7. Report any faults, damage or difficulties on return, or as soon as possible by telephone. Do not attempt to repair or modify any equipment.

8. On discovery of theft or loss of any item, the borrower will:

report the theft or loss immediately to the nearest police station, and keep the police Report Number;

complete a Damaged/Lost/Stolen Equipment Report available from the Equipment Store.

9. In case of injury an Incident Report must be completed.
